Picking a plan shouldn’t feel like a gamble. Whether you're launching a Minecraft SMP, hosting a Rust group, running a DayZ community, or building factories in Factorio — the “best” plan depends on what actually causes lag: player count, world size, and mods. Here’s a simple way to choose the right plan on FundedBlock without overspending.
“A smooth server is mostly about matching resources to your world size, mod load, and player count — not just buying the biggest plan.”
This approach works for Minecraft (Vanilla/Modded), Factorio (Vanilla/Modded), Palworld, Project Zomboid, ARK (Evolved/Ascended), Rust (Normal/Autowipe/Staging), Unturned, Valheim, 7 Days to Die, Garry’s Mod, L4D/L4D2, Euro Truck Simulator 2 / American Truck Simulator, Arma 3 / Arma Reforger, Barotrauma, The Forest / Sons of the Forest, SCP:SL and more.
1) Player count is step one.
If you’re playing with a few friends and short sessions, Free is a great start. If you’re building a public server
with spikes (weekends, events), Pro/Ultra keeps performance stable.
2) Mods are the biggest jump in resource needs.
Forge/Fabric modpacks, ARK plugins, Rust mods, or heavy workshop content will push RAM and CPU.
If you're going modded, start with Pro. Ultra is ideal for large packs and high entity counts.
3) Long-running worlds grow.
Zomboid, Factorio, Valheim, and truck sims generate bigger saves over time — which can slow autosaves and restarts.
Pro/Ultra + backups is the safe move.
Quick plan cheat-sheet:
• Free: testing, small private sessions, first-time hosting.
• Pro: modded servers, growing communities, smoother gameplay under load.
• Ultra: large communities, big modpacks, heavy bases/entities, best stability.
If you don’t know yet, start with Pro and upgrade when your world actually needs it.

Please make one about reducing lag in Palworld and Zomboid. Those saves get HUGE.

Feb 10, 2026 ReplyThis helped a lot. I didn’t realize modpacks were the biggest factor. Going Pro for my Forge pack.
